Community Guidelines

Standards for respectful, constructive participation in Mamba Host community spaces.
1) Welcome to Our Community
Mamba Host's community spaces (Discord, forums, social media) bring together game server owners, developers, and hosting enthusiasts. These guidelines ensure everyone can participate in a welcoming, helpful, and respectful environment.
Our Community Values:
- Respect: Treat everyone with courtesy and consideration
- Helpfulness: Support fellow community members with knowledge and patience
- Constructive Feedback: Provide thoughtful criticism and suggestions
- Professionalism: Maintain appropriate conduct befitting a professional community
- Inclusivity: Welcome people of all backgrounds and skill levels
2) Where These Guidelines Apply
These guidelines govern behavior in all Mamba Host-operated spaces:
- Discord Server: Official Mamba Host Discord (discord.gg/mambahost)
- Community Forums: forum.mambahost.com
- Social Media: Official Mamba Host accounts (Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.)
- Support Channels: Tickets, live chat, email interactions
- Events: Webinars, meetups, and virtual/in-person gatherings
3) Expected Behavior
We expect all community members to:
Be Respectful:
- Use appropriate language and tone
- Respect differing opinions and perspectives
- Assume good intentions from others
- Acknowledge others' expertise and contributions
- Be patient with newcomers and those learning
Be Helpful:
- Share knowledge and resources freely
- Provide constructive guidance without condescension
- Direct people to relevant documentation or resources
- Welcome questions and create a safe learning environment
- Acknowledge when you don't know something
Be Professional:
- Keep discussions relevant to topics at hand
- Avoid excessive self-promotion or spam
- Respect intellectual property and give credit
- Maintain appropriate boundaries in conversations
- Use proper channels for different types of content
4) Prohibited Behavior
The following behaviors are strictly prohibited and may result in immediate action:
Harassment & Abuse:
- Personal attacks, insults, or derogatory comments
- Harassment, bullying, or intimidation of any kind
- Doxxing (sharing personal information without consent)
- Threats of violence or harm (even as "jokes")
- Unwanted sexual attention or advances
- Stalking or persistent unwanted contact
Hate Speech & Discrimination:
- Slurs, hate speech, or discriminatory language
- Content promoting hatred against individuals or groups
- Discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any protected characteristic
- Symbols, imagery, or references to hate groups
Disruptive Behavior:
- Spam, flooding, or excessive off-topic messages
- Trolling, baiting, or intentionally inflammatory posts
- Excessive use of caps, emojis, or attention-seeking tactics
- Derailing conversations or hijacking threads
- Repeatedly posting the same questions or content
Inappropriate Content:
- NSFW content (sexual, violent, or disturbing material)
- Illegal content or discussion of illegal activities
- Malware, phishing links, or scams
- Piracy, warez, or copyright-infringing content
- Graphic violence or gore
Deceptive Practices:
- Impersonating Mamba Host staff, moderators, or other users
- Creating multiple accounts to evade bans
- Spreading false information or rumors
- Manipulating votes, reactions, or engagement metrics
5) Discord-Specific Rules
Additional rules for our Discord server:
Channel Usage:
- Post in appropriate channels (read channel descriptions)
- Use #general for general chat, #support for help requests
- Keep code and logs in designated channels with proper formatting
- Use #showcase for sharing your projects (not #general)
Voice Channels:
- Mute when not speaking in large channels
- Avoid soundboards, excessive noise, or music without permission
- Respect when others are in focused work/study sessions
- Don't record voice conversations without consent
Mentions & Direct Messages:
- Don't @mention staff unless necessary (use tickets for support)
- Never mass-mention @everyone or @here (only staff can do this)
- Don't spam DMs to staff or community members
- Report unsolicited DMs to moderators
6) Self-Promotion & Advertising
Limited self-promotion is allowed with restrictions:
Allowed:
- Sharing your game server in #showcase once per week
- Asking for feedback on projects you're building
- Mentioning tools/resources when genuinely helpful to discussion
- Linking to your helpful tutorials or guides when relevant
Prohibited:
- Posting affiliate links without disclosure
- Advertising competing hosting services
- Spam posting your content across multiple channels
- Cold DM advertising to community members
- Paid advertisements without prior approval
7) Support & Technical Discussions
When seeking or providing help:
Asking for Help:
- Search existing discussions and documentation first
- Provide relevant details (error messages, logs, server specs)
- Use code blocks for logs and configuration files
- Be patient waiting for responses
- Mark resolved questions as solved
- Consider opening a support ticket for account-specific issues
Providing Help:
- Test solutions before suggesting them
- Explain the "why" behind solutions, not just the "how"
- Link to official documentation when applicable
- Admit if you're unsure rather than guessing
- Encourage learning rather than just providing answers
8) Content Sharing Guidelines
When sharing content in the community:
Code & Configuration:
- Use proper code formatting (triple backticks on Discord, code blocks on forums)
- Include language specifiers for syntax highlighting
- Share complete, working examples when possible
- Provide context and explanations
- Don't share sensitive data (API keys, passwords, IPs)
Images & Media:
- Keep images family-friendly and relevant
- Use image spoiler tags for large screenshots
- Compress large images before uploading
- Provide alt text descriptions when possible
- Credit creators when sharing others' work
External Links:
- Only share trustworthy, safe links
- Provide context for what you're linking to
- Avoid link shorteners (they hide the destination)
- Don't share referral links without disclosure
9) Intellectual Property
Respect intellectual property rights:
- Don't share pirated game files, cracks, or nulled plugins
- Give credit when sharing others' code, guides, or resources
- Respect license terms when sharing open-source code
- Don't impersonate or misrepresent others' work as your own
- Report intellectual property violations to moderators
10) Moderation & Enforcement
Our moderation team maintains community standards:
Moderator Authority:
- Moderators have final say in interpreting these guidelines
- Decisions are made at moderators' discretion based on context
- Moderators may take action on behavior not explicitly listed here
- Staff and moderator decisions should be respected
Enforcement Actions:
- Verbal Warning: Friendly reminder about guidelines
- Official Warning: Formal warning logged to account
- Temporary Mute/Timeout: 1 hour to 7 days depending on severity
- Temporary Ban: 7-30 days for serious or repeated violations
- Permanent Ban: For severe violations, ban evasion, or persistent rule-breaking
Factors Considered:
- Severity and impact of the violation
- Intent (accidental vs. deliberate)
- Previous warnings or violations
- Pattern of behavior over time
- Whether the person shows understanding and remorse
11) Reporting & Appeals
Reporting Violations:
- Discord: Right-click message → Report or DM a moderator
- Forums: Use the "Report" button on posts
- Email: community@mambahost.com with details and evidence
- Provide context, screenshots, and links when possible
- Don't publicly call out rule violators (report privately)
Appeals Process:
- Email appeals@mambahost.com within 30 days
- Include your username, date of action, and explanation
- Acknowledge the violation and explain how you'll improve
- Appeals are reviewed by senior staff (not the original moderator)
- Decisions on appeals are final
What Won't Be Overturned:
- Clear, severe violations (harassment, hate speech, illegal content)
- Ban evasion attempts
- Persistent rule-breaking after multiple warnings
- Appeals that show no understanding of the issue
12) Staff & Moderator Conduct
Our staff and moderators are held to high standards:
- Must follow all community guidelines
- Should lead by example in behavior and tone
- Must remain impartial in moderation decisions
- Should explain actions when asked (within reason)
- Cannot abuse powers for personal gain or advantage

13) Privacy & Data Protection
Respect privacy in community spaces:
- Don't share others' personal information without consent
- Don't screenshot private conversations and share publicly
- Respect when someone asks for a conversation to remain private
- Report doxxing or privacy violations immediately
- Review our Privacy Policy for how we handle community data
14) Accessibility & Inclusion
Help make our community accessible to everyone:
- Describe images and screenshots when sharing (alt text)
- Avoid flashing GIFs or rapidly changing images
- Use clear, simple language when possible
- Be patient with those who communicate differently
- Avoid ableist language and stereotypes
15) Off-Topic & Recreation
We have designated spaces for casual conversation:
- Use #off-topic for non-hosting discussions
- Gaming talk is welcome in #gaming-chat
- Memes belong in #memes (keep them appropriate)
- Don't derail technical discussions with off-topic chat
- Respect when others want to stay focused on hosting topics
16) Feedback & Suggestions
We welcome constructive feedback:
- Share service feedback in #feedback channel
- Feature requests go in #suggestions with detail
- Be constructive and specific in criticism
- Understand that not all suggestions can be implemented
- Avoid repeatedly posting the same complaint
17) Partnership & Sponsorship
Interested in official partnerships:
- Contact partnerships@mambahost.com
- Don't solicit in community spaces
- Partnership discussions are off-limits in public channels
- Approved partners get special roles and permissions
18) Emergency & Crisis Resources
If someone is in crisis or danger:
- Encourage them to contact local emergency services (911 in US)
- Share crisis helplines: 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline in US)
- Notify moderators immediately
- Don't minimize serious concerns about safety
- Remember: we're a hosting community, not crisis counselors
19) Changes to These Guidelines
We may update these guidelines as our community grows:
- Material changes announced in #announcements
- Updated "Last updated" date at the top
- Community input welcomed on significant changes
- Continued participation indicates acceptance of updates
