Other Games Version Mismatch
This guide covers version mismatch fixes for Rust, Counter-Strike 2, Arma 3, Arma Reforger, Squad, and other game servers. Most of these games auto-update when you restart the server.
Quick Fix for Most Games
Section titled “Quick Fix for Most Games”Try this first:
- Stop your server completely
- Wait 30 seconds
- Start your server again
Most game servers check for updates on startup and download them automatically via SteamCMD.
How Rust Updates Work
Section titled “How Rust Updates Work”Rust servers auto-update via SteamCMD when restarted. The game has forced wipes on the first Thursday of each month.
Version Mismatch Fix
Section titled “Version Mismatch Fix”- Restart your server — it will download updates automatically
- Wait for the console to show the server is ready
- Players update their game via Steam
Common Rust Errors

Forced Wipe Schedule
Section titled “Forced Wipe Schedule”- First Thursday of each month — Map and blueprint wipe
- Server will auto-wipe when Facepunch pushes the update
- Your server.cfg settings are preserved
Counter-Strike 2 (CS2)
Section titled “Counter-Strike 2 (CS2)”How CS2 Updates Work
Section titled “How CS2 Updates Work”CS2 servers update automatically via SteamCMD on restart. Valve pushes updates frequently.
Version Mismatch Fix
Section titled “Version Mismatch Fix”- Restart your server
- The server downloads the latest version automatically
- Players’ Steam clients auto-update
Common CS2 Errors

Workshop Maps
Section titled “Workshop Maps”If you use workshop maps:
- Maps may need re-downloading after major updates
- Check that workshop collection IDs are still valid
- Some maps may become incompatible after game updates
Arma 3
Section titled “Arma 3”How Arma 3 Updates Work
Section titled “How Arma 3 Updates Work”Arma 3 updates via SteamCMD but mods require separate updates.
Version Mismatch Fix

- For mod updates, check the Steam Workshop
Mod Version Issues
Section titled “Mod Version Issues”Arma 3 heavily relies on mods. Version mismatches are often caused by:
- Server has newer mod version than players
- Server has older mod version than players
- Missing mods on client or server
Fix mod mismatches:
- Check your server’s mod list
- Ensure all mods are the same version as Workshop
- Players must subscribe to the same mod versions
- Use a modpack launcher (like A3 Launcher) for easier syncing
Common Arma 3 Errors

Arma Reforger

Mod Compatibility
Section titled “Mod Compatibility”Reforger mods work differently than Arma 3:
- Mods are managed through the Workshop
- Server and client versions must match exactly
- Check mod compatibility after game updates
How Squad Updates Work
Section titled “How Squad Updates Work”Squad servers update via SteamCMD. Squad and mods must be synchronized.

Squad Mods

- Mods must match between server and client

Assetto Corsa / Assetto Corsa Competizione
Section titled “Assetto Corsa / Assetto Corsa Competizione”How AC/ACC Updates Work
Section titled “How AC/ACC Updates Work”These games update less frequently than others. Updates are usually for bug fixes or new content.

- ACC may require manual content manager updates for tracks/cars
Content Mismatch
Section titled “Content Mismatch”For Assetto Corsa (not ACC):
- Custom cars/tracks must match between server and client
- Use Content Manager for easier mod synchronization
- Server content folder must match what clients have
Terraria
Section titled “Terraria”How Terraria Updates Work
Section titled “How Terraria Updates Work”Terraria updates less frequently. When it does update, tModLoader may take time to become compatible.
Version Mismatch Fix
Section titled “Version Mismatch Fix”- Check if your server uses tModLoader or vanilla
- Restart server to pull latest version
- For tModLoader, wait for mod compatibility after major updates
tModLoader Considerations
Section titled “tModLoader Considerations”- tModLoader versions must match exactly
- Some mods break after Terraria updates
- Check tModLoader Discord for compatibility info
Pavlov VR
Section titled “Pavlov VR”How Pavlov Updates Work
Section titled “How Pavlov Updates Work”Pavlov updates via SteamCMD. Custom maps may need re-downloading after updates.

- Server downloads updates automatically
- Custom workshop maps may need to re-download
General Troubleshooting
Section titled “General Troubleshooting”Server Won’t Update
Section titled “Server Won’t Update”If restarting doesn’t update the server:
- Check disk space — updates need room to download
- Try a reinstall from the panel (backs up configs first)
- Check for SteamCMD errors in the console
Players Can Connect, But See Different Content
Section titled “Players Can Connect, But See Different Content”This usually means:
- Workshop content not synced
- Custom mods out of date
- Server using cached old files
Fix:
- Clear server cache (game-specific location)
- Force re-download of workshop content
- Reinstall if needed
Update Stuck or Failed
Section titled “Update Stuck or Failed”If an update gets stuck:
- Kill the server (not just stop)
- Wait 60 seconds
- Start again
If still stuck, you may need to reinstall the server through the panel.
