Other Games Version Mismatch

This guide covers version mismatch fixes for Rust, Counter-Strike 2, Arma 3, Arma Reforger, Squad, and other game servers. Most of these games auto-update when you restart the server.

Try this first:

  1. Stop your server completely
  2. Wait 30 seconds
  3. Start your server again

Most game servers check for updates on startup and download them automatically via SteamCMD.

Rust servers auto-update via SteamCMD when restarted. The game has forced wipes on the first Thursday of each month.

  1. Restart your server — it will download updates automatically
  2. Wait for the console to show the server is ready
  3. Players update their game via Steam

If you use workshop maps:

  1. Maps may need re-downloading after major updates
  2. Check that workshop collection IDs are still valid
  3. Some maps may become incompatible after game updates

Arma 3 updates via SteamCMD but mods require separate updates.

  1. Restart your server for base game updates
  2. For mod updates, check the Steam Workshop

Arma 3 heavily relies on mods. Version mismatches are often caused by:

  • Server has newer mod version than players
  • Server has older mod version than players
  • Missing mods on client or server

Fix mod mismatches:

  1. Check your server’s mod list
  2. Ensure all mods are the same version as Workshop
  3. Players must subscribe to the same mod versions
  4. Use a modpack launcher (like A3 Launcher) for easier syncing

Check Arma 3 logs for detailed errors:

  • Located in profiles/ folder
  • Files named with date: Arma3Server_2025-01-13.rpt

Arma Reforger servers update via SteamCMD on restart, similar to other Source/Enfusion games.

  1. Restart your server
  2. Server downloads updates automatically
  3. Players update via Steam

Reforger mods work differently than Arma 3:

  • Mods are managed through the Workshop
  • Server and client versions must match exactly
  • Check mod compatibility after game updates

Squad servers update via SteamCMD. Squad and mods must be synchronized.

  1. Restart your server
  2. Server downloads the latest Squad version
  3. Players update via Steam

If you run modded Squad:

  1. Mods must match between server and client
  2. Update mods after each Squad update
  3. Check mod compatibility on the Squad modding Discord

Assetto Corsa / Assetto Corsa Competizione

Section titled “Assetto Corsa / Assetto Corsa Competizione”

These games update less frequently than others. Updates are usually for bug fixes or new content.

  1. Restart your server to check for updates
  2. ACC may require manual content manager updates for tracks/cars

For Assetto Corsa (not ACC):

  • Custom cars/tracks must match between server and client
  • Use Content Manager for easier mod synchronization
  • Server content folder must match what clients have

Terraria updates less frequently. When it does update, tModLoader may take time to become compatible.

  1. Check if your server uses tModLoader or vanilla
  2. Restart server to pull latest version
  3. For tModLoader, wait for mod compatibility after major updates
  • tModLoader versions must match exactly
  • Some mods break after Terraria updates
  • Check tModLoader Discord for compatibility info

Pavlov updates via SteamCMD. Custom maps may need re-downloading after updates.

  1. Restart your server
  2. Server downloads updates automatically
  3. Custom workshop maps may need to re-download

If restarting doesn’t update the server:

  1. Check disk space — updates need room to download
  2. Try a reinstall from the panel (backs up configs first)
  3. Check for SteamCMD errors in the console

Players Can Connect, But See Different Content

Section titled “Players Can Connect, But See Different Content”

This usually means:

  • Workshop content not synced
  • Custom mods out of date
  • Server using cached old files

Fix:

  1. Clear server cache (game-specific location)
  2. Force re-download of workshop content
  3. Reinstall if needed

If an update gets stuck:

  1. Kill the server (not just stop)
  2. Wait 60 seconds
  3. Start again

If still stuck, you may need to reinstall the server through the panel.

Before contacting support, gather these 3 things:

  1. Server ID — found in your panel URL or dashboard
  2. What you tried — list the steps you already attempted
  3. Error message or screenshot — exact text or image of what you see
