FiveM Version Mismatch
This guide helps you fix FiveM version mismatch errors, including artifact version issues and game build mismatches.
Understanding FiveM Versions
Section titled “Understanding FiveM Versions”FiveM has multiple version components that must align:

Common Version Errors

Checking Your Artifact Version
Section titled “Checking Your Artifact Version”In the Control Panel
Section titled “In the Control Panel”- Go to your server in the panel
- Look for Artifact Version or FXServer Version in settings
- Note the build number (e.g.,
7290)
In the Console
Section titled “In the Console”When your server starts, it shows:

Section titled “Current Recommended Artifacts”Check the official FiveM artifacts page for the latest stable versions:
- Recommended: Use artifacts from the last 30 days
- Avoid: Very old artifacts (6+ months) may have compatibility issues
Updating Artifacts
Section titled “Updating Artifacts”Method 1: Panel Settings
Section titled “Method 1: Panel Settings”- Go to your server in the control panel
- Find Startup or Configuration settings
- Look for Artifact Version or FXServer Build
- Select a newer version from the dropdown
- Click Save
- Reinstall or Restart the server
Method 2: Manual Update (Advanced)
Section titled “Method 2: Manual Update (Advanced)”If your panel doesn’t have artifact selection:
- Go to runtime.fivem.net/artifacts/fivem/
- Download the latest recommended build for your OS
- Extract files to your server directory
- Restart the server
Configuring sv_enforceGameBuild
Section titled “Configuring sv_enforceGameBuild”The sv_enforceGameBuild convar controls which GTA V version players must have.

Changing Game Build
Section titled “Changing Game Build”- Open your
server.cfgfile - Find or add the
sv_enforceGameBuildline - Change the number to your desired build
- Save the file
- Restart your server
Client-Side Fixes (For Players)
Section titled “Client-Side Fixes (For Players)”If you’re a player trying to connect:
Update FiveM
Section titled “Update FiveM”- Close FiveM completely
- Open FiveM again — it auto-updates
- If stuck, delete FiveM cache:
- Go to
%localappdata%\FiveM\FiveM.app\data\cache - Delete everything in this folder
- Restart FiveM
- Go to
Update GTA V
Section titled “Update GTA V”- Open Steam/Rockstar Launcher
- Verify game files or let it update
- Launch GTA V once to complete any updates
- Try FiveM again
Clear FiveM Cache
Section titled “Clear FiveM Cache”- Open FiveM
- Press F8 to open console
- Type
connect localhostand press Enter (this will fail, that’s okay) - Close FiveM
- Go to
%localappdata%\FiveM\FiveM.app\data\cache - Delete the
privfolder - Restart FiveM
Troubleshooting Artifact Updates
Section titled “Troubleshooting Artifact Updates”Update Doesn’t Apply
Section titled “Update Doesn’t Apply”- Ensure the server is fully stopped (not just restarted)
- Check that the new artifact files actually replaced the old ones
- Look for file permission errors in the console
Server Won’t Start After Update
Section titled “Server Won’t Start After Update”- Check the console for specific errors
- Common causes:
- Resources incompatible with new artifact
- Missing dependencies in new artifact
- Corrupted download
- Try rolling back to the previous artifact version
Resources Break After Update
Section titled “Resources Break After Update”Some resources may need updates for newer artifacts:
- Check resource documentation for artifact requirements
- Update resources from their original sources
- Check for resource updates on the FiveM forum
Common Scenarios
Section titled “Common Scenarios”Scenario 1: “My players can’t connect after GTA update”
Section titled “Scenario 1: “My players can’t connect after GTA update””GTA V updated, but your server is on an older game build.
Fix:
- Update
sv_enforceGameBuildto the new build number - Or wait — FiveM usually releases compatible artifacts within days
Scenario 2: “Server worked yesterday, broken today”
Section titled “Scenario 2: “Server worked yesterday, broken today””Likely an automatic artifact update or GTA update.
Fix:
- Check if GTA V updated recently
- Try rolling back to the previous artifact version
- Update

Scenario 3: “Some players can connect, others can’t”

Fix:
- Tell affected players to update GTA V
- Or lower your
